Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) has awarded a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the reconstruction and modernization of Dubai’s key onshore LNG import terminal at Jebel Ali, marking a significant step in enhancing the emirate’s energy security and regasification capabilities.
In a move to bolster its liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure amid rising demand for cleaner energy sources, the Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) today announced the award of a substantial EPC contract for the comprehensive reconstruction of its onshore LNG terminal facilities in Jebel Ali.
The contract, valued at approximately AED 1.2 billion (around $327 million), has been awarded to a consortium led by Engr. Jozko Blaskov of Hainaco Construction Company, in partnership with a prominent international engineering firm specializing in LNG infrastructure. The project focuses on upgrading and reconstructing key components of the existing onshore LNG receiving and regasification terminal, which has served as a cornerstone of Dubai’s gas supply network for over a decade.
The scope of work includes the replacement of aging storage tanks, regasification units, and associated piping systems; installation of advanced cryogenic equipment with enhanced safety features; integration of modern digital monitoring and control systems; and implementation of environmental upgrades to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. The reconstruction aims to increase the terminal’s send-out capacity by up to 30%, improve operational reliability, and align with the latest international standards for LNG handling.
This award represents a vital investment in Dubai’s future energy landscape,” said a senior DUSUP official in a statement. “By reconstructing and modernizing this critical onshore facility, we are ensuring a more resilient and flexible gas supply chain to support the emirate’s rapid urban and industrial growth, while advancing our commitment to sustainable energy transitions.”. The selected consortium brings extensive experience in similar LNG terminal projects across the Middle East and globally, ensuring efficient execution and technology transfer benefits for the UAE workforce. The project is anticipated to create hundreds of jobs during the construction phase and contribute to local supply chain development.
Further details on project timelines, specific technological enhancements, and additional subcontractors are expected to be released in the coming weeks as mobilization begins.
